MORNING PRAYER RESOURCES
AND RECOMMENDATIONS
St Paul’s has now put all its resources including a link to the Daily Reflections into one hub - https://resourcehub.squarespace.com/.
Great Creator, who makes and moulds us in diverse and marvellous ways: We thank you for the prophetic voice of St Luke’s that speaks out for all LGBTQ+ people. May this small beginning lead us to be more accepting, inviting, and embracing of all your children, who breathe the breath you give us. And, when we fail to celebrate our differences, remind us that everything about us comes from you and returns to you. For, as you give us life and love and laughter and companions on the way, so you give us grace to love each another as you have loved us, and the insight to see you as our eternal source. For you live and reign with the Son and Holy Spirit now and forever. Amen.
Grace by Alice Walker
grace
gives me a day
too beautiful
I had thought
to stay indoors
& yet
washing my dishes
straightening
my shelves
finally
throwing out
the wilted
onions
shrunken garlic
cloves
I discover
I am happy
to be inside
looking out.
This, I think,
is wealth.
Just this choosing
of how
a beautiful day
is spent.

Dear Jesus,
You were born and walked and lived in days much more grave than ours.
You know something about confronting the kingdoms of men.
You know something about confronting the Pharisees.
You know something about answering the calls of a people desperately crying out for shalom – for peace, for justice, for equity, for the radical wellness of all relationships in creation.
We stand with a bludgeoned people.
Those made poor by having to be exceptional just to be enough,
those heart broken by the crackling lash of racist rhetoric, whose service to our communities is unnoticed, overlooked,
those weary of the oppression of privilege, who do not see themselves reflected in our faith community,
When we are too blind to see - give us the vision to see,
When we are too deaf to hear - give us the humility to listen.
God please stand with those in our community where how we are as a community, our injustice means they are at more risk from Covid19. Be with them as you were with displaced Joseph. God comfort and gird them for the long journey ahead.
God use this time to deepen our churches discipleship – to teach us not to rely on the power of the empire of charity to bring your kin-dom to earth. Give us the humility and wisdom to be led by those we see as “the other” Make us creative in our resistance to injustice. Fill us with love, and laughter, and joy and life – even as we confront the powers of death. And help us not to grow weary in doing good.
God give us glimpses of your shalom in the days to come – light in the darkness. Show us your power to cut the darkness. Show us your power to put boundaries on the deep. Show us the power of your voice – you speak and chaos is halted in its tracks. You confront the kingdoms of power and call forth the image of God in your people. You call forth all humanity to exercise stewardship of the world. And you empower each of us to see and connect with “the other”.
Heal us, Lord. Connect us Lord. Give us courage to resist, Lord. Give us the humility to be led to radical wellness. And empower us to walk forward in belief that transformation is possible.
A Prayer for Wonderfully Made Church by Tim Goode
Dear Lord,
Seeker and Discerner of all,
who knows each one of us intimately
and who is acquainted with all our ways.
We give you thanks and praise
that in times of darkness and light
Your right hand holds us fast;
that to you, darkness and light are both alike.
We praise you that, from our conception to our final breath,
we are fearfully and wonderfully made;
and it is only through you
that we discover our true identity and image.
Help us always to mirror your divine image in us
through acts of love, generosity and hospitality,
and render us always attentive and graceful seekers
of your divine image, present in both friend and foe.
Through your Son, in whose risen image
we all find our eternal rest,
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
