Gospels of St Luke’s

If you've ever been to a church service chances are you heard a reading from one of the four Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. But what if we were to hear from a Fifth Gospel, from the stories of the people sitting next to us? Sometimes at St Luke’s we listen to short stories of faith and doubt, of love and longing by people in our own church. Here’s a selection of our stories, as told to Martin Wroe, our Associate Vicar.

The Gospel According to Avis

“It’s true when people say that music takes you to a place that your rational mind can’t reach.”

The Gospel According to Ivy

“You can’t just blame God for the war but it did make you wonder how he could allow this. No-one has an answer for these tragedies.”

The Gospel According to Gary

“I see God like an old friend, someone you can turn to for a chat, even though he can’t answer you with words.”

The Gospel According to Rob

“After a life in church, it dawned on me that it was time to leave.”
